Brain Health Center

Project Description: The 40,000-square-foot Brain Health Center in Columbia serves as a state-of-the-art destination for neurological care and research in South Carolina. Designed to integrate clinical services with advanced research, the facility significantly expands access to specialized diagnostic and treatment options that were previously out of reach for many residents across the state. As the flagship site of the  Brain Health Network, the Center delivers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and ongoing care for cognitive conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, while extending its reach through a network of rural clinics statewide.

The facility is equipped with two advanced MRI scanners, including South Carolina’s first ultra-high-field 7 Tesla system. It also features a wide-bore 3 Tesla scanner—approximately twice as powerful as conventional clinical MRI systems—capable of producing exceptionally detailed brain images to support even the most complex diagnoses.

Beyond its cutting-edge imaging capabilities, the Brain Health Center offers modern exam and consultation rooms, along with dedicated spaces for physical therapy and a range of patient support services, creating a comprehensive and patient-centered care environment.
