Nasser Alrahma Turns an Interest in Technology into Real-World Experience at Tesla

Nasser Alrahma has always been interested in technology, electric vehicles and the way businesses create meaningful customer experiences. When the opportunity arose to intern with Tesla in Columbia, South Carolina, he saw a chance to take those interests beyond the classroom and into a fast-paced professional environment.

As a Tesla Advisor intern, Nasser worked directly with customers while supporting demo drives, customer profiles and vehicle-related needs. The role gave him a unique opportunity to see how technology and customer experience intersect in a real-world business setting.

Throughout his internship, Nasser developed skills that went far beyond what could be learned in a classroom. He strengthened his communication, problem-solving, customer service and teamwork abilities while also gaining hands-on experience with technical troubleshooting. He learned to navigate Tesla systems, including SMP and Tesla Garage, to help address customer and vehicle-related issues.

One experience that particularly stood out to Nasser was gaining access to Tesla Garage. He learned how to check vehicle firmware, service information and customer vehicle issues. It gave him a closer look at the technical side of the company and made him feel more involved in the technology behind the customer experience.

“My internship at Tesla helped me grow my confidence, apply what I learned in school, and see how technology and customer experience come together in the real world,” Nasser said.

The experience also helped Nasser better understand where he wants to take his career. By working in a professional environment with both customers and technology, it gave him greater confidence and confirmed his interest in pursuing a career that combines IT, business and technology.

The South Carolina Internship Program (SCIP) played an important role in making that experience meaningful. Through SCIP, Nasser was able to turn his internship into an opportunity for professional and personal growth while staying focused on his long-term career development.

“SCIP gave me the opportunity to turn my internship into a meaningful professional experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally,” he said.

For Nasser, one of the biggest takeaways from his internship was the value of learning by doing. The experience allowed him to apply what he had learned in school, build professional confidence and develop skills that are difficult to gain solely through coursework.

His advice to other students considering an internship or applying for SCIP is simple. Take the opportunity seriously. Internships provide students with experiences that cannot always be taught in a classroom while helping them build confidence, gain professional experience and develop valuable connections.

“Through my internship, I gained real-world experience, improved my communication skills, and became more confident in my career path.”

Nasser’s experience shows that an internship can be more than just a line on a resume. It can be a chance to test your interests, discover how different skills come together and gain the confidence to take the next step toward your career. Since completing his internship, Nasser has continued growing with Tesla and has now been promoted to Senior Advisor, showing how the experience has continued to contribute to the next stage of his career.
