Graduation and Retention Network
GARNET supports students throughout their academic journey—helping them stay on track, catch up, or get ahead toward timely degree completion. Through a comprehensive array of resources, programs, and initiatives, GARNET promotes student success and retention, aligning directly with USC’s Strategic Priorities:

Key Initiatives

Summer Semester
Seven sessions offered in multiple formats (3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-week) from May to August. Supports students in accelerating progress, recovering credits, and maintaining financial aid eligibility—advancing USC’s Student Success priority.

Winter Session
A three-week, online, asynchronous term during winter break. Offers students an additional opportunity to advance coursework and stay on track for graduation.

Interdisciplinary Certificates
Five unique undergraduate certificates designed to complement degree programs and enhance career readiness. Supports USC’s Future Readiness initiatives.
