Academic Advising

Repository for Direct Transfer Tracks and Transfer Advising Guides

The University of South Carolina (USC) offers several transfer academic pathways for students.

A Direct Transfer Track (DTT) is a clearly defined transfer pathway available for specific majors, allowing eligible students from Midlands Technical College (MTC) or Greenville Technical College (GTC) to complete an associate degree before transferring to USC.  Students who meet the University's and major's admissions requirements, submit their application by the deadline, and meet GPA and course prerequisites are guaranteed admissions to USC.

Transfer Advising Guide (TAG) is an academic planning tool that outlines how coursework from a South Carolina Technical College transfers to USC and applies toward a designated degree program.  Each TAG includes recommended courses for the first 30 credit hours and identifies which courses will fulfill USC program requirements.  While students may transfer up to 60 credit hours with an associate degree (AA/AS) and earn junior academic standing, degree applicability beyond the initial 30 hours may vary by major.  Some courses may transfer as general elective credit.  Admissions to USC is subject to program specific GPA, course prerequisites, and space availability.
